Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has won the confidence test in the National Parliament of Pakistan today. Imran received 178 votes. It received six votes more than it needed to. Imran Khan stands for re-election today in the wake of the recent defeat of the Pakistan Tehreek party in the Senate. Voting was conducted in a specially convened session of Parliament.
Imran needs just 172 votes to win the confidence test. But he received six more votes. A total of 155 PTI MPs voted for him. MPs from the MQMP, Balochistan Awami Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and the Grand Democratic Alliance voted in favor of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Prime Minister also voted for Independent candidate Aslam Botani. Imran thanked party MPs and allied MPs who voted for him.
