‘Metro man’ E Sreedharan set to join BJP in poll-bound Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: Metro man Sreedharan is all set to join the BJP, the party’s Kerala state president Surendran Pillai said on Thursday. He said he would formally join the party during the ‘Vijaya Yatra’ to be held before the forthcoming Assembly elections. Vijaya Yatra will start from Kasaragod on the 21st of this month and will end in Thiruvananthapuram in the first week of March. The yatra will be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. He said all the party leaders would lead the rath yatra along the way.
Whereas, Sreedharan… means Metro Rail remembers. He is best known as the pioneer of the Delhi Metro Rail. The then Chief Minister of Delhi Sahib Singh Verma appointed him MD of the Delhi Metrorail Corporation. The project was completed ahead of schedule and received everyone’s condolences. This earned him the nickname ‘Metro Man of India’. However, he is due to retire in 2005. However, orders have been issued handing over the full responsibilities of the second phase of Delhi Metro. He then retired in 2011.
