New Delhi: CM Arvind Kejriwal has said that Delhi is setting up its own education board, similar to other states. He said on Saturday that the Cabinet had approved the setting up of the Delhi Board of School Education. One is the governing body headed by the Delhi Education Minister and the other is the executive body that oversees the day-to-day functions. The governing and executive bodies will include experts from the education sector, government officials, and public and private school principals.
CM Kejriwal said about 25 schools in Delhi would come under the board in the 2021-22 academic year. There are about 1000 government schools and 1700 private schools in Delhi. Of these, all public schools and most private schools are affiliated to CBSE. In this context, Kejriwal said some schools would be removed from the CBSE board and linked to the Delhi School Board. The principals of the respective schools will hold discussions with the teachers for this, he said.
