New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched several development programs in Assam via video conference. Construction work on a bridge between Dhubri in Assam and Fulbari in Meghalaya has begun. Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the distance between Assam and Meghalaya would be greatly reduced. He said the road distance between the two states is currently 250 km and in the future it will be between 19-20 km. The bridge, which connects the two northeastern states, will significantly reduce the distance between Assam and Meghalaya. He said the Center, with a double-engine government in the state, was trying to bridge the geographical and cultural gaps in the region along with Assam’s development.
