New Delhi: On the 26th of last month, the Union Home Ministry told Parliament that a small amount of force must be used on farmers to control the situation. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, he said the agitating farmers had rioted on Republic Day and had not worn masks or kept physical distance during the corona period. He described the incident as “chaotic” in many parts of Delhi and injured Delhi police. He said the police should not have entered the field with the actions of the farmers. He explained that tear gas, water cannons and a small amount of force must be used against the farmers to detain them. So far, 39 cases have been registered, police said.
