This Monday, Portugal reached the lowest number of daily infections since the beginning of October. In the last 24 hours, the country has registered 549 new cases and 61 deaths from covid-19.
According to the epidemiological bulletin revealed this Monday by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), Portugal registered, this Monday, more 549 new cases e 61 deaths by covid-19. The number of new infections is the lowest since October 6, when 427 cases were registered.
Regarding deaths, it is the number of deaths lowest of the last 52 days.
The region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley was the one that registered more deaths (33) and more infections (278), followed by the North region, with 107 new cases and eight deaths. The Center registered this Monday 48 new infections and 15 deaths; the Alentejo, 33 cases and two deaths; the Algarve, 22 new infections and two deaths.
Today Madeira counts 56 new cases and one death and five cases of infection have been identified in the Azores.
The decline in new active cases continues at 21st consecutive day: 80,642 cases, 1,699 less than on Sunday. In the last 24 hours, 2,187 people recovered from the infection – there are now 701,409 since the start of the pandemic.
The bulletin reports that there are 6 more people hospitalized this Monday, a total of 3,322 people hospitalized with covid-19, 627 of whom in intensive care units (less 11 people since sunday).
Today is marked by the passing of the 16 thousand dead in total since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic in Portugal. The virus has so far killed 16,023 people.
This Monday, the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the President of the Assembly of the Republic and the party leaders will meet with experts to assess the situation of the covid-19 in Portugal, before a new renewal of the state of emergency.
