A study by the São Paulo project Covid-19 Info Tracker, made by researchers from USP and yes Unesp, pointed a drop in occupation of ICU beds in the State. There were 5.5 percentage points in a seven-day interval, going from an occupation of 62% to 56.5%. In May, the situation was worse: 16 of the 23 regional health departments had seen an increase in the rate of admissions. Now, only four regions have rates above 70%: Bauru, Sorocaba, São João da Boa Vista and Ribeirão Preto. According to the state government, the occupancy rate of ICU beds last Friday was 58.3% in greater São Paulo and 53.6% in the metropolitan region. According to the survey, this is a reflection of the expansion of vaccination in the country. However, the results are still shy and, therefore, specialists reinforce the need to maintain care — especially the use of masks and social distancing.
