The WHO is collecting valuable information
Wuhan: A team of World Health Organization (WHO) experts visited a livestock hospital in Wuhan, China on Tuesday. Peter Daszak, a team member and zoologist, said the hospital had provided excellent facilities for the meeting and provided them with the information they needed. He also met with the in-charge of the Hubei State Animal Health Department. He said many questions were answered from him. Wuhan is the state capital of Hubei. A team of experts wears special clothing for their health care during a visit to China. It has already visited various research institutes, hospitals and meat outlets in Wuhan and collected various details.
For the first time in the last months of 2019, corona cases were reported in Wuhan. There have been criticisms that China has been negligent in preventing the spread of the corona to other countries from there. Many countries, including the United States, have been incensed that information has been withheld. With that, China agreed to a fact-finding with a team of international experts. It is against this backdrop that a team of experts is roaming there in key areas related to corona outbreaks and gathering details. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin explained that the team was providing the necessary support. He said a team of Chinese experts had briefed the international team on a number of scientific issues. Dr Michael Ryan, the agency’s emergency chief, dismissed criticism that the WHO team was failing to gather specific information from China. He said the livestock samples collected by his company would provide the necessary data on many of the unanswered questions about the epidemic over the years through genetic analysis.
