A new stage in the campaign vaccination collective at Paqueta Island, which is in Guanabara Bay, moves forward today. This Sunday, 25, teenagers receive the vaccine from Pfizer — the only one authorized by the Anvisa to be administered in minors. In the first stage, which focused on adults living on the Island, the vaccine was used Oxford/AstraZeneca produced by Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. This, in fact, is a project in partnership between Fiocruz and the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro which has the support of the Ministry of Health.

Information is being collected to be transformed into studies and future public policies to confront Covid-19 in Rio de Janeiro. The first municipality in the state to vaccinate minors was Niterói — it began on Thursday, in young people aged 16 and 17 with disabilities or comorbidities. Another mass vaccination in Rio had already taken place in Ilha Grande and was promoted by the state government. Big Island is a tourist paradise on the Costa Verde and belongs to the municipality of Angra dos Reis.
