Pedro France/Senate AgencySenator made request for breach of bank secrecy of Prime Time Zone

A Association of Radio and Television Stations of the State of São Pauloo (AESP) e a Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters (ABERT) came together to repudiate the request for breach of bank secrecy of the Pan Youth Radio, made by the senator Renan Calheiros on CPI to Covid-19. AESP highlighted that the station has been “fulfilling the role of informing the population” for almost 80 years and that such attempts are against press freedom. “We recall that the CPI aims to investigate actions and possible omissions by the federal government in combating the new coronavirus pandemic in Brazil, and any attempt to intimidate the work of the press is an affront to freedom of expression, a right guaranteed by the Brazilian Constitution”, affirmed the AESP, which concluded: “We hope that press freedom and the Democratic Rule of Law are observed”.
