Estado responded to a press conference held by the federal government’s portfolio in justification of an alleged lag in doses by Pfizer
the government of São Paulo released this Wednesday night, 4, a note in rejoinder to the speech of the Ministry of Health about the occurrence involving an alleged shipment of 50% fewer doses of Pfizer vaccines than provided for in the National Immunization Plan. “The statement made by the extraordinary secretary for the fight against Covid-19, Rosana Leite de Melo, that the State of SP was left with more doses of the Butantan vaccine is a lie, as stated in a press conference at the Ministry of Health today,” says the government. The State said that it is “being penalized by the Ministry of Health for the success of its vaccination campaign” and assured, once again, that it received 228,000 doses less than necessary “when considering the criterion of equitable distribution carried out in all previously sent distribution agendas”.
The extraordinary secretary said at a press conference this Wednesday afternoon, a few hours after the first statement by Governor João Doria (PSDB) on the “penalty”, that according to the Health calculation, the State should receive 620,000 doses of CoronaVac in the previous agenda Ministry, but perhaps because of a communication failure, it withdrew 678,000 doses of vaccines produced at the Butantan Institute. The removal is allowed by a pact between the two bodies, since the production of the immunizing agent is made in São Paulo. “This, due to equity, we end up making some compensations that they may not understand, but we are always open to answering any doubts,” he declared. The State called the decision “arbitrary” and said that the folder broke the federative pact. “The Government of the State of SP will take all appropriate measures so that the rights of its citizens are respected and their lives preserved”, he pointed out.
