Immunizer can be kept at a controlled temperature between 2 to 8ºC; amendment aims to facilitate the logistics of dose distribution in Brazil
A National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) authorized on Friday, 28, new conditions of conservation and storage for the vaccine against Covid-19 gives Pfizer/BioNTech. With the change, the immunizer can be kept at a controlled temperature between 2 to 8ºC for up to 31 days. Before, the vaccine could be kept at this temperature for a maximum five days. The change in the package insert was requested to Anvisa by the pharmacist last Friday, 21. “To approve the new conditions, Anvisa’s technical team evaluated the stability studies presented by the laboratory that developed the vaccine. The stability studies serve to define how long and under what conditions the vaccine maintains its characteristics without alteration ”, says the agency. The change aims to facilitate the logistics of distribution of doses in Brazil.
