Federal Police agents found a senator hiding R $ 30,000 in his underwear in October 2020
The Minister Luis Roberto Barroso, do Supreme Federal Court, did not extend the removal of the senator Rodrigues boy (DEM-RR), paving the way for him to return to office. However, the STF kept the congressman away from a commission that discusses the destination of funds to fight the pandemic. In October 2020, Barroso ordered Chico to be removed for 90 days after agents of the Federal police (PF) caught the senator hiding R $ 30 thousand in his underwear. However, as the senator himself graduated for 121 days, Barroso’s removal was withdrawn. The term of the license ends on Thursday, 18. When analyzing a possible extension, the minister said that “there are no recent facts that justify a new decision to withdraw from office.” In addition, the Public Ministry (MP) has not yet filed a complaint against Chico Rodrigues.
With this, Barroso understood that there is no risk of the senator jeopardizing the ongoing investigations. However, the minister admitted the possibility of reviewing the decision if irregularities are found. To justify the inability to compose the commission on Covid-19, the minister cited elements linked to the parliamentarian’s involvement in fraud. “It would be counterintuitive to allow the person investigated for the alleged deviations made possible by acting in the parliamentary committee to return to work in the course of the investigation,” explained Barroso. The senator is suspected of fraud and undue dispensation from bids, embezzlement, to join a criminal organization that would be involved in the diversion of federal resources to combat Covid-19 in Roraima.
