A closed agreement between the leaders of the Chamber of Deputies postponed the vote on the project on the autonomy of the central bank for Wednesday, 10. According to the agreement, in addition to the merit of the proposal, two requests and five amendments will be voted on. Initially, the project was scheduled to be voted on this Tuesday, 9. If approved, as expected by the President of the House, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), the project will go to the sanction of the president Jair Bolsonaro (without party). Among the foreseen changes is the establishment of fixed mandates for directors and the withdrawal of the minister’s status from the mayor’s president.

The approval of the text had already been forwarded by the text’s rapporteur, deputy Silvio Costa Filho (Republicanos-PE), in a meeting this Monday, 8, with Campos Neto, the Mayor, Arthur Lira and the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes. “The autonomy project is a guarantee of monetary stability for the Brazilian people,” said the minister, who continued: “We are very hopeful that the Chamber, under the command of Arthur Lira, will be able to approve the autonomy project.
