“The media is under attack” – the journalists met Charles Michel with this caption
President of the European Council Charles Michel has arrived in Georgia. His plane landed in Batumi yesterday, where he will take part in an international conference.
“The media is under attack” – with these captions and photos of the late TV cameraman Lekso Lashkarava, he was met by journalists at the place where the escort of the President of the Council of Europe was to visit.
Charles Michelle is going to meet with the Prime Minister and the President. His meeting with the opposition is also scheduled for tomorrow.
Michel’s visit was preceded by harsh assessments from Brussels and Washington over the Georgian Dream’s violation of the Charles Michel Accord, which was signed on April 19. Ambitious Judicial Reform
„Ambitious Court Reform“– This is one of the main obligations of the agreement. It is within this obligation that the process of further appointment of judges of the Supreme Court should have been suspended, and this is clearly stated in the document. The Georgian Dream continued the process and on July 12 approved 6 new judges in the parliament.

Parliament could not elect a CEC chairman
The Parliament of Georgia could not elect the Chairman of the Central Election Commission. None of the two nominated candidates received the required number of votes – 100 votes.
- Giorgi Kalandarishvili – 82 – for, 8 – against;
- Giorgi Santuriani – 2 – for, 10 – against.
According to the Electoral Code, if the candidate for the post of chairperson is not elected after 2 attempts, the number of votes will be reduced and the votes of 90 people will be enough if no consensus is reached, in which case the parliament can decide by 76 votes.
A few more steps, and we find ourselves at the bottom. Where do I see the solution – appeal to fellow citizens

My – one citizen of Georgia – address
To my fellow citizens, I think that many years and many years of experience give me the right to do so. And armed with this right, I appeal to everyone, even those who often agree with my assessments and those who call me a putschist and advise me to read the Bible; Those who value the ideas of equality and brotherhood and those who see one group of people as the destroyer of the country.
I would like to point out, all together, that in the last days, these mortally-vitally opposing positions have led us straight into the abyss. I think everyone should have been scared of slipping into this abyss. After all, we are all the children of one small, unrelated, historically doomed nation!
No one will think this is an exaggeration!
Unprecedented acts of violence against free thought have taken place before our eyes, such as the tearing down of the European flag twice, the targeted attack on journalists, and finally, the death of the media symbol – the current operator. A few more steps, and we find ourselves somewhere on the bottom. Our great, “monotheistic” neighbor swallows us in such a way that our polyphonic chants are never heard again, no one is in a hurry to see Svetitskhoveli or Jvari Monastery, no one is bothered by the rhythm of Khorumi!
