Two young British men thought they had won 182 million pounds (about 210 million euros), but after all the newsletter had not been registered due to lack of money in the online account.
Rachel Kennedy, 19, and Liam McCrohan, 21, recorded the same key – numbers 6, 12, 22, 29, 33 and the stars 6 and 11 – for five weeks in a row.
The online account was scheduled to make the payment every week, but when it tried to make the draw for last Friday, February 26, it did not have enough funds and the bet was not registered.
On that day, the same numbers were drawn for the £ 182 million jackpot and Rachel Kennedy received a message on the online account saying “Winning Match”, which means “winning combination”, in Portuguese.
“I called my boyfriend and my mom to the living room and they didn’t want to believe it either and I just thought, ‘my God, I have to call them,'” Rachel said in remarks to the British newspaper The Sun.
“I called the number to think I had won 182 million pounds [210 milhões de euros] and they said, ‘yes, you have the correct numbers, but you did not have funds in your account for payment of the bet and therefore it was not registered ”, he added.
“I was absolutely heartbroken when we heard the man on the phone saying that we had not registered the bulletin. I was already imagining the house and the car of our dreams, ”said Liam McCrohan, adding that, from the message that appeared on the website,“ it really looked like we had won ”.
THE jackpot Friday ended up leaving to a single bettor in Switzerland.
