According to the Vaccinometer, 70.4% of the 9,230,227 residents of São Paulo aged over 18 years (that is, 6,498,646 people) have already received at least the first dose of the immunizing agent. The statistics include those vaccinated who received the vaccine from Janssen, applied in a single dose. “With more than 70% of the adult population having at least one dose of vaccine, we have already surpassed the United Kingdom”, celebrated Edson Aparecido, Municipal Health Secretary. “And most importantly, this number already reflects positively on the occupation of hospitals. .” According to the SMS, São Paulo has 54.66% of ICU beds occupied and 37.34% of those in the infirmary. On the other hand, the city government emphasizes that “it does not mean that the pandemic is under control” and that “it is essential that people eligible for the second dose complete the vaccination schedule as soon as possible”.
