Emma Colonel Aispuro, 31, faces a charge of conspiracy to distribute various types of drugs
American authorities arrested Emma Coronel Aispuro, wife of the Mexican drug dealer Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman this Monday, 22. The information was confirmed by the Department of Justice. The arrest took place at Dulles International Airport, Virginia, and Emma is due to testify via videoconference on Tuesday, 23, at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. She faces a criminal charge of “conspiracy to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin, five kilograms or more of cocaine, 1,000 kilograms or more of marijuana and 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, for illegal import into U.S“, Says the document.
The note also says that the detainee would have helped the trafficker to escape the Altiplano prison, in the Mexico, in 2015, and would have planned yet another escape before the partner was extradited to the U.S. At the age of 31, Emma is an American and Mexican citizen. She attracted media attention by accompanying El Chapo during a trial between 2018 and 2019. El Chapo was convicted of drug trafficking by a jury in New York in 2019 and is serving a life sentence in a maximum security prison in Colorado.
