This week a group was detained by the UAE authorities after posing nude on a balcony in Dubai. Now women are at risk of being deported.
The authorities acted following a publication in the Twitter showing naked women in an apartment near the marina.
On Tuesday, the Government of Dubai said the group “Broke the law United Arab Emirates ”, in a statement on Twitter, adding that he would not comment further.
According to the The National, the group was preparing “a publicity stunt”, without saying whether it was related to any brand. A police source characterized the behavior of women as “unacceptable” for “not respecting or reflecting the country’s values and ethics”.
Now the The Washington Post advances that Dubai should deport all elements of the group.
Remember that the Emirates have strict rules on what their residents and tourists can post online. Material considered “obscene” and that promotes pornography or gambling may result in pecuniary penalties or effective imprisonment.
In this sense, the Dubai authorities accused the group of public debauchery and pornography production, although his deportation was ordered without any formal trial.
Although Dubai wants to attract tourists and international businesses, the country maintains a number of strict laws that restrict social and political freedoms.
Consensual sex between people who were not married was illegal until November last year. In 2017, before the change, a British woman was sentenced to one year in prison for violating the law.
The legal changes that eased social control last year were aimed at attracting foreign investors, although many of the restrictions still remain.
