Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, and representatives of WHO and PAHO are among the names that will compose the group
A delegation formed by senators and ministers will visit, on Friday, the 17th, the headquarters of two manufacturers of veterinary products interested in producing vaccines against Covid-19. The announcement was made on Monday by the rapporteur of the Senate Covid-19 Temporary Committee, Wellington Fagundes (PL-MT). According to him, the laboratories of Ouro Fino, in Cravinhos, interior of São Paulo, and of Ceva Brasil, in Juatuba, metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, will be inspected. Ministers of Health will be in the delegation, Marcelo Queiroga, and the Government Secretariat, Flávia Arruda. Representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) and yes Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
For Senator Wellington Fagundes, authorization for animal health companies would give Brazil autonomy in the production of vaccines against Covid-19. “We are going to need a vaccine not just for this moment. The virus is installed, we have new strains coming, Brazilian mutations such as Amazonas, Rio de Janeiro. A strain that was the fusion with the virus from South Africa, the new one from São Paulo. We have to manufacture vaccines because Brazil is the eighth world power. ” Fagundes states that technicians from National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) who were in the labs would have been satisfied with the facilities. In April, the Senate approved a bill authorizing the use of factories for veterinary products in the production of vaccines against Covid-19. The text provides for the granting of tax incentives to companies.
