Australians were shocked to see a blank Facebook page without news feeds on Thursday. Surprisingly, Facebook has blocked all media information in the country due to a dispute with the government. News producers, human rights lawyers and intellectuals, including Prime Minister Scott Morrison, have strongly criticized Facebook’s move. Official health pages, emergency safety warnings, and welfare networks have all disappeared from the tool, along with the news. Scott Morrison said on his own Facebook page that it was like a hostile attitude to their country and that it was extremely unfortunate to block important information from health and emergency services. He said many countries were concerned about the behavior of big companies, which said they were older than governments and that the rules would apply to them.

Facebook alleges that Australia’s draft law on news content does not provide a proper definition and does not appear to be in line with its promise to prevent misinformation. That’s why the media explained that the content was discontinued.
