A IRS, through a team from customs, located 670 kilos of cocaine in the Port of Santos. The drug was hidden inside a shipment of guava that would be sent to Antwerp, in Belgium. The cargo was selected for inspection using objective risk analysis criteria, including a non-intrusive inspection by scanning images.

During this inspection, a sniffer dog from the IRS detected the presence of drugs in the shipment. Cocaine intercepted by Customs was delivered to Federal police which initiated the investigation based on information provided by the IRS. This was the first seizure in the Port of Santos in 2021. In 2020, the Customs of Santos intercepted just over 20 tons of cocaine in export cargo destined for Europe.
