Man suffered burns on his neck, shoulders, arms and back, says union
A fire hit a platform on the Petrobras this Saturday afternoon, 20, and left a worker injured. The accident occurred at P-48, located in the Caratinga field, in the Campos Basin, north coast of Rio de Janeiro, during the maintenance process in one of the structure’s pipes. According to information from the Northern Fluminense Petroleum Workers Union (Sindipetro-NF), the victim needed to be rescued by aeromedical care after suffering burns on his neck, shoulder, arms and back. In a statement, the union affirms that the fire was of “great proportions” and that it took 1h30 to be controlled.
Petrobras confirms the accident, but treats the case as a “fire principle.” In a statement, the state-owned company states that the worker suffered minor burns and was treated at the infirmary. “It was preventively landed. He underwent medical evaluation and is well and at home. The fire principle was immediately stopped by the platform’s emergency response team. ” The accident did not cause damage to the system or equipment, but the production of the platform was interrupted to investigate the causes of the fires and repairs.
