Paris: A French court has sentenced former French President Nicolas Sarkozy to one-third in prison in a corruption case. The 66-year-old president served as president from 2007 to 2012. At this stage, he was accused of illegally promoting Judge Gilbert Azibert in Monaco. There are allegations that he was given a promotion to keep financial matters from coming to light in connection with his campaign. The trial court convicted him and sentenced him. The case concluded that information was obtained from time to time from the senior judge. Under the current sentence, former presidents could face up to a year in prison. Suspended for two years. The court allowed the appellant to appeal against the verdict and to be held hostage with an electronic sword at home. Narcozi, along with others, will be tried later this month in connection with another case.
