Among the changes, the allows the acquisition of up to 60 weapons by snipers, and up to 30 by hunters, without the need for express authorization from the Army
THE federal government made a series of changes to 2019 decrees that regulate the purchase of arms and ammunition by security officers, snipers and weapon collectors. According to the General Secretariat of the Presidency, the measures relax the limits for the purchase and stock of weapons and cartridges. Among the changes in the legislation are the increase, from four to six, in the maximum number of weapons of use permitted for people with a Firearm Registration Certificate and the possibility of replacing the technical capacity report, mandatory for collectors, snipers and hunters, with a “certificate of habituality” issued by clubs or shooting entities.
The text also provides for the permission to purchase up to 60 weapons by snipers, and up to 30 by hunters, without the need for express authorization from the Army, and the increase, from one thousand to two thousand, in the amount of cartridge restricted caliber that can be purchased by “sportsmen” per year. In the material released, the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic affirms that the measures are aimed at “reducing the bureaucracy of procedures”, “reducing the discretion of public authorities” in granting registrations and adapting the purchase limits to the “amount necessary to exercise rights and the fulfillment of the institutional mission of the authorized categories ”to possession and possession.
