Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, said that the implementation of the new flyover in Al-Firdous Square within the path of the Free Paradise Axis project, in Cairo Governorate, on Salah Salem Road has been completed.
He added that the experimental operation of the bridge was carried out in the direction of Al-Azhar Park, and work began on the rehabilitation of the existing bridge in Al-Firdaws Square by joining the two traffic directions to it to become one direction in the direction of Abbasiya, and the implementation rate of the rest of the bridges on the axis track at this stage was about 80%, and the rate of implementation of road works reached In the course of the project 85%.
The Minister of Housing explained that the aim of the Firdous Corridor project is to connect the central area of Cairo, Salah Salem Road, the Ring Road, Nasr City and New Cairo, and reach the new administrative capital through the available linkage axes in New Cairo, “Sadat Street and Mohamed Bin Zayed Axis”, and reduce densities. Traffic on existing roads in the areas of Heliopolis, west of Nasr City, and the 6th of October Bridge, shortening the distances and times of reciprocal trips, as well as reducing fuel consumption and reducing pollution.
Major General Mahmoud Nassar, head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, said: The Free Paradise Axis is implemented in 3 phases, and the first phase starts from Taki Square at Al Firdous Street until the extension of the Field Marshal Tantawy with a total length of 8.6 km, including the development of the roads leading to the axis, and a width of “3: 4 “Traffic lanes at a cost of LE 1.2 billion, and includes the industrial works required to connect on the main axes,“ Salah Salem Road – Autostrad Road – Extension of the Field Marshal Tantawy ”, and the surface planning works for the surrounding roads, intersections and lighting works.
Nassar added: The second phase of the project starts from the intersection of the axis with the extension of the Marshal Tantawy axis inside the Red Mountain to connect to the extension of Al-Zomor Street to the bridge above the Al-Shaheed Corridor, and this stage will be implemented by the Engineering Authority for the Armed Forces, while the third phase starts from the exit of the Abu Hashish tunnel below Ahmed Lotfy Street Al-Sayed, passing by Egypt and Sudan Street, at a surface intersection with Ramses Street under Ahmed Said Bridge, and passing by Ahmed Said Street, intersecting with both Abbasiya Street (El-Geish) and El-Sirgany Street to Taki Square in Al-Firdous Street.
The head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction indicated that the Al-Firdaws axis project is one of the national road network projects, and the corridor route plan starts from the exit of the Abu Hasheesh tunnel at the bottom of Ahmed Lotfy Al-Sayed Street, passing through Egypt and Sudan Street, and at a surface intersection with Ramses Street below the Ahmed Said Bridge, and passing Ahmed Saeed Street Intersecting each of the Abbasid (El-Geish) Street, Al-Sergany Street, Taki Square and Al-Firdous Square below the Al-Firdaws Bridge on Salah Salem Road, passing through Ibn Qansuh Street, and an intersection via a multi-directional bridge over the Autostrad axis and passing Al-Tayaran Street in Manshiet Nasser neighborhood and its extension and through a bridge over Emaar Road and the extension of the axis Field Marshal Tantawi, passing through the Al-Jabal Al-Ahmar area, and an upper intersection via a bridge over the extension of the martyr axis until it was connected to Al-Zomor Street “Al-Mithaq”.
