General Ashraf Al-Khatib, Secretary-General of the National Council for the Care of the Families of Martyrs and the Injured, said that the total compensation paid by the Council amounted to 97.5 million pounds distributed over 91.6 million to the families of the martyrs, and 5.9 million to those with total disability.
Al-Khatib added that the National Authority for the Care of the Families of the Martyrs and the Injured belongs to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and takes care of 916 families of martyrs, and 5295 injured.
He pointed out that the Council coordinated with a number of national entities and the Nasser Social Bank to launch an initiative to facilitate the procedures for purchasing durable goods in installments for the families of the martyrs and the injured by guaranteeing the pensions they receive from the “bank.”
He said that the council will sign a tripartite protocol to activate the initiative during the coming period, and the goods in the initiative will be varied, and cover all the needs of these citizens of “durable goods” with different price packages.
He added that the council would provide an answer to the beneficiary of his services to direct it to Nasser Bank to buy within the initiative, and the beneficiary would bring a “price offer” to present a guarantee answer for him, according to which he would buy the commodity in installments.
He explained that the families of the martyrs and the injured are given 50% discounts on the metro and trains, and 14.9 thousand letters of transfer have been issued to conduct tests and x-rays, and 21 thousand letters of dispensing medicines to the beneficiaries of the services of the Council.
He referred to the contract with the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population, to provide treatment services to the families of the martyrs and the injured, in addition to a contract with the Egyptian Company for Medicines Trade to provide medicines in the governorates in which the patient resides.
