The Cabinet approved the President’s draft decision on the First Amendment to the Aid Grant Agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America on improving comprehensive economic governance in Egypt, signed in Cairo on September 29, 2020.
The first amendment aims to add $ 22.8 million to the aid grant amount, bringing the total amount of USAID commitments to $ 50.5 million, in order to continue to focus on comprehensive economic governance activities aimed at increasing accountability and accountability mechanisms to reduce corruption, and increase the efficiency of public institutions, And reduce the obstacles that prevent the participation of women and marginalized communities at the economic and social levels.
Funding to support governance in 2020
In its report on the 2020 harvest, the Ministry of Cooperation said that it had agreed on development funds worth $ 68 million in grants from multilateral and bilateral development partners to support the government’s approach to adopting an approach based on transparency and participation in achieving development with all relevant parties.
The Ministry of International Cooperation provided a grant of 22.3 million dollars through the United States of America to finance the comprehensive economic government program, and 42.6 million dollars from China to support governance within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
