President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed to increase the cultivated areas to meet industrial needs and maximize the added value of Egyptian cotton at the international level, and to establish national industries based on Egyptian cotton that provide high-quality cotton products at reasonable prices to citizens.
The President referred to the continuation of the state’s plan to advance the Egyptian cotton system, restore it to its previous position and restore its global position, through the integrated development of the cotton system in all its agricultural, commercial and industrial axes.
The President met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, in the presence of the Ministers of Agriculture, Irrigation and the Public Business Sector, to follow up “the axes of developing the Egyptian cotton system from cultivation, production and industry, as well as the executive position of land reclamation projects in the south of the valley in Toshka.
Ambassador Bassam Rady, spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, said that the meeting reviewed the operational steps of the Toshka development projects, including cultivated areas that are intended to be reclaimed in the region, as well as the provision of water resources and the infrastructure necessary to support these projects, and the industrial works that are being implemented by government authorities, and the progress of private work. To develop roads and axes leading to the southern valley.
President El-Sisi directed the completion of all the elements and details of land reclamation in Toshka, relying on agricultural methods that are commensurate with the nature of the lands and the climate of Toshka, as well as the integration of work mechanisms between the concerned sectors, seeking to achieve the desired strategic goal of adding new areas of agricultural land in Egypt.
The official spokesman added that the meeting witnessed the presentation of the axes of developing the cotton system in Egypt, with the aim of making the best use of Egypt’s competitive advantages in cotton production worldwide in light of the quality and global reputation it enjoys in international markets.
