Emirati attack on the Egyptian writer

Al-Khatib’s prescription also responded to the Emirati writer’s attack on Al-Naim, who considered that Habermas’s rejection of the award does not affect the skyscrapers’ Emirates. By saying (Yes, skyscrapers, airports, money and future plans, but there is no democracy and no transfer of power.)

He continued: “There is no free and elected parliament that expresses the Prime Time Zone, and there is no respect for human rights. Only a focus is on building stones and not Prime Time Zone. Here is the value of Habermas’s refusal to expose this system and that it is inconsistent with the principles and discourse of the Frankfurt School on democracy.”

Two days ago, the governing body of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award announced that it regretted the retreat of the German philosopher, Jürgen Habermas, for accepting its award for the cultural personality of the year due to the “close connection” between the authority and the “political system” in Abu Dhabi.

The authority said in a brief statement on its Twitter account, monitored by Watan at the time, that it expresses its regret for the retreat of Mr. Jürgen Habermas (91 years) from his pre-acceptance of the award, but respects his decision.

She added (The Sheikh Zayed Book Award embodies the values ​​of tolerance, knowledge, creativity and building bridges between cultures, and will continue to fulfill this mission.)

It is noteworthy that the (Cultural Personality of the Year) wins a gold medal and one million dirhams (more than 272 thousand dollars).

And on Sunday, Habermas said in a statement delivered by his publisher to the German magazine Der Spiegel: (I have previously expressed my readiness to receive the Sheikh Zayed Book Award this year, and this was a wrong decision that I will fix.)

The German philosopher added that he had not discovered at the outset “the close connection between the institution that distributes these prizes in Abu Dhabi and the political system established there.)

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, tweeted on Twitter congratulating the German philosopher on winning, and wrote: “We congratulate the winners of the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, including writers, thinkers, and Arab and international cultural institutions.”

On April 30th, the (Sheikh Zayed Book Award) website announced the selection of Habermas (Cultural Personality of the Year).

This is in recognition of his rich intellectual career that extends for more than half a century and in appreciation of the prominent position he enjoys as one of the most influential philosophers in the world and a pioneer in critical philosophical discourse.

Habermas is one of the most prominent contemporary German academics and thinkers.

He is the author of more than 50 books on philosophy and sociology, some of which have been translated into Arabic.

The UAE Government Department of Culture and Tourism sponsors this award, which has a total value of seven million dirhams in its branches.

The Sheikh Zayed Prize, which bears the name of the first president of the UAE, awards its prizes annually in the branches of literature, translation, and children’s and adolescent literature.

As well as arts and critical studies, publishing and cultural technologies, development and nation building, Arab culture in other languages, the young author in addition to the cultural personality of the year.

Among the winners of the Cultural Personality of the Year award in previous editions are the Chinese orientalist Zhong Ji Kun, and the Lebanese-French writer Amin Maalouf.

As well as the Moroccan historian Abdullah Al-Laroui and the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb.
