Ibrahim Al-Arabi, head of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, said that the markets witnessed an increase in the volume of demand for food commodities during the past two weeks, due to the natural increase in the volume of demand before the holy month of Ramadan.
He added that the markets witnessed stability in the prices of most strategic commodities, and the markets witnessed a decrease in the prices of poultry, fish, fresh vegetables and Sudanese meat, while the prices of fresh municipal meat of various kinds and fruits recorded a slight increase, compared to the same period last year.
He explained that the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, in cooperation with the provincial chambers and the ministries of commerce and industry, catering, domestic trade, local development, governorates, suppliers, producers and manufacturers of food commodities, works around the clock to provide all strategic and food commodities through the outlets of the “Welcome Ramadan” exhibition, which will provide all food commodities with discounts ranging from 15 And 35% to ensure price stability as domestic demand increases in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
Al-Arabi received the report from the operations room of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce to monitor the markets, which revealed that the prices of fish and poultry continued to decline during the month of March, as the price of a kilo of white chicken farms decreased by 12.6% to record 28.75 pounds compared to 32.90 pounds in the same month of last year. .
The price of a kilo of red farm chickens “live” decreased by 17.7% to reach 33.75 pounds compared to 41 pounds, and the price of a kilo of local live chicken decreased by 10.9% to 38.75 pounds compared to 43.50 pounds, and the price of evacuated chicken decreased by 13.8% to 65.50 pounds compared to 76.
