Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said on Wednesday that the European Commission would soon present a plan to become the joint buyer of energy for all EU member states.
“The Commission will present a proposal for discussion at the next European Council,” Draghi told reporters after an EU meeting in Slovenia.
He said he considered building a consortium that includes Europe to store gas as a positive option, although this is not yet under discussion in the 27-nation bloc.
“We should be prepared for increases in energy prices that have consequences for the economy,” he added.
