Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, said that it was decided to grant members of the Medical Professions Risks Fund benefits that are not less than the benefits granted by the Fund for Honoring Martyrs, Victims and Missing Persons of War Operations and their families.
The Minister of Health clarified that President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the protection of medical staff while performing their work, as the Medical Professions Risk Fund was established under Law 184 of 2020 issued by a presidential decree.
Zayed added that the state is keen to support the medical staff, and in appreciation of their efforts and sacrifices to serve and protect the nation, especially during the response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Ministry of Health confirmed and pointed out that the implementation procedures have been put in place to activate the fund, as a permanent headquarters for the fund has been allocated in the new administrative capital, and a proposal has been drawn up for the fund’s board of directors in preparation for presentation to the Prime Minister.
The Ministry indicated that the Medical Professions Risks Fund and Compensation Disbursement to Medical Staff aims to grant benefits for cases of death or injury that result in a complete or partial disability for medical staff as a result of performing their work, in addition to providing social care to the members of the fund and their families.
She added that according to the law, the entitlement to compensation for medical staff and their families is retroactively taken into account since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
The ministry stated that a proposal for the basic system of the fund is being prepared with the help of experts and specialists, and that is guided by the systems in place in the War Martyrs Fund.
