Hitachi ABB wins maintenance of Ras Ghareb wind power plant


The Orascom – Engy – Toyota Tsusho alliance has contracted with Hitachi ABB Power Grids to carry out maintenance work for the Ras Gharib wind power plant.

Mohamed El-Husseini, Managing Director of Hitachi ABB Power Grids, said that the company provides a package of service contracts designed to meet the requirements of wind energy developers, and the services include the supply of spare parts, provision of preventive maintenance, support and training.

Sameh Al-Alfi, Director of Operation and Maintenance at Ras Ghareb Station, said that contracting with Hitachi to implement a comprehensive maintenance contract came after the company implemented the 220/33 kV network connection and pressured the work schedule to implement it.

He explained that the company was chosen to carry out maintenance work for the substation, especially that the most important element of success for wind power plants is the interest in maintenance programs to reduce the possibility of failures, extend the life of turbines and towers, and reduce operating costs.

The Ras Ghareb wind power plant, which was implemented by the Orascom – Engy – Toyota Tsusho alliance, is part of the projects that will add its capabilities to the electrical network within the framework of the Ministry of Electricity’s plan to diversify energy production sources, and produce 20% of renewable energy capacities from the total electrical capacities added to the network.
