Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Major General Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai, held a meeting yesterday to follow up the necessary preparations for the start of the implementation of the first phase within the project for the development of the “Greater Evolution” site in Saint Catherine, in the presence of the Ministry and the governorate officials, as part of the implementation of the President’s mandate Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, to develop the city of Saint Catherine.
El-Gazzar explained that Saint Catherine is a heritage tourism city that integrates and harmonizes with the environment, and the various projects that will be implemented in the city have been designed to achieve the city’s vision, directing attention to bicycle and pedestrian paths, and supporting vegetation from olive trees and others.
The Minister of Housing indicated that the Central Agency for Reconstruction, affiliated to the Ministry of Housing, will implement the first phase of the project for the development of the “greatest manifestation” site in Saint Catherine, stressing that the development projects will improve the urban environment in the city, raise its level, and provide many investment opportunities. And various job opportunities.
The minister emphasized that the city of Saint Catherine has a very great historical and spiritual value, and is a meeting point for the three monotheistic religions. The project to develop the site of the “greatest transfiguration” in Saint Catherine aims to establish a spiritual shrine on the mountains surrounding the Holy Valley, in light of the great position it enjoys. The city of Saint Catherine, where God Almighty transfigured, and it is a unique region in the world, and represents a destination for spiritual, mountain and hospital tourism, for all Prime Time Zone of the world, in addition to providing all tourism and entertainment services for visitors, and linking the city with the rest of the coastal area extending between Al Tur and Sharm El Sheikh and Dahab .
Major General Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai, confirmed that the Saint Catherine City Development Project aims to develop the city and its surroundings, while preserving the environmental and visual character of pristine nature, adding that Saint Catherine is located in South Sinai in the midst of a mountain range, the most famous of which is Jabal Musa. Nabih Musa was exalted upon him, during his return to Egypt from Median, as well as Mount Catherine, and it houses the ancient monastery of Saint Catherine, which is one of the oldest monasteries in the world.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Minister of Housing and the Governor of South Sinai reviewed a number of joint projects, which are being implemented in the governorate, in various fields: “housing – water and sanitation projects – projects to develop unsafe areas – and others.”
