The “Cadmar” shipping company announced the launch of the Russian “Leader Line” navigation line, which is dedicated to transporting Egyptian agricultural crops between Alexandria and Russia.

“Kadmar”, the agent of the Russian Lidar shipping line, said in a statement that the line contributes to transporting citrus, potatoes, grapes, pomegranates and other agricultural crops from this month until the end of the export season.

She added that the transfer is scheduled to take place through weekly sailing trips between the Dekheila Container Terminal in Alexandria Company for handling containers and goods to the port “Novorossiysk” port in the Black Sea, Russia, on direct regular voyages without stopping at any port.

The inauguration of the Russian “Leader Line” is the result of mutual cooperation between Egypt and Russia and the implementation of presidential directives to increase Egyptian exports within the state plan 2030.

The company stated that it is planned to start the weekly flights for refrigerated containers within the shipping line next Wednesday from the Dekheila Container Terminal, which was chosen due to close cooperation with the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport.

Captain Tariq Shaheen, head of the Alexandria Port Authority, affirmed his readiness to overcome any obstacles in order to implement the shipping line plan and his agent, Cadmar Shipping Company, by setting the port’s capabilities to achieve the goals of the Egyptian exporters.

The Russian shipping line praised the support provided by the Ministry of Transport in the development of port infrastructure projects through Resolution 417 amending Resolution 800 of 2016, which contributed to attracting many shipping lines, in addition to developing the logistics system in Egypt through the Transport Regulatory Authority and starting the establishment of a number of ports. The dry dry lands coincided with the issuance of Customs Law No. 207 of 2020.

Eng. Mohamed Khalil, member of the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Export Council and Chairman of the Maritime Shipping Committee, said that the launch of the Leader Line would increase the capacity for transporting exports, given the increasing growth in Egypt’s agricultural exports.
