Operating 43 Egyptian-Japanese schools … and a financial package worth 6.6 billion pounds for teachers
The government seeks to improve the quality of the educational system, raise the efficiency and competitiveness of its outputs, and last year witnessed a number of achievements in light of the Coronavirus pandemic crisis.
The Information and Decision Support Center in the Council of Ministers published a video entitled “One year of the Egyptian state’s achievements in the education sector” for the period from (January – December 2020), raising the slogan “Continuous achievements .. despite the crises”.
The video covered a number of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education’s achievements in developing schools and the quality of the educational process, developing and raising the efficiency of educational cadres, developing technical education, caring for students and eradicating illiteracy.
The Ministry established 25.4 thousand classes from July 2019 until the end of 2020, operating 43 “Egyptian-Japanese” schools until the 2020-2019 academic year, examining 2053 American diploma students electronically through the new EST system, as well as producing 80 educational videos, and broadcasting 2,246 interactive lessons on the ministry’s website.
The ministry presented a new financial package for teachers at a cost of 6.6 billion pounds with the aim of developing and raising the efficiency of educational cadres, and it approved a new increase in each of the “teacher allowance” by 50%, 50% in the monthly performance incentive, and 25% in the exam reward.
The Ministry has also trained 70,000 online teachers on promotion programs, and has trained 1,000 teachers on the new education system in Egyptian-Japanese schools known as “Tokatsu”.
4 hours were allocated on the Egyptian educational channel, and 6 channels on YouTube, for technical education programs, training 9918 teachers, mentors and headmasters of a technical school on the Edmodo platform, and inaugurating a number of applied technology schools, most notably: “B.Tech” and “WE” schools, And “HST” for artificial intelligence.
The government has allocated 972 million pounds in the state budget for school feeding. At the same time, its health initiatives targeted 12 million primary school students in the “Elimination of Malnutrition Diseases” initiative, and 2 million middle school students in the “C virus detection and elimination” initiative.
The government also encouraged community partnerships efforts in many educational projects, which resulted in raising the efficiency of 17 new community classes.
With regard to literacy efforts, the Ministry prepared a plan to declare Egypt free of illiteracy from (January 2021 – December 2024), and literacy classes were opened in 100 villages in 12 governorates as part of the “A Decent Life” initiative.
