On Sunday, Turkey celebrated the development of its “Akinci” unmanned aircraft, which has extraordinary specifications and was entirely locally produced, in a huge leap for the military industries in Turkey.
This military attack drone, which is difficult to shoot down with ground-based counter-weapons, and called it “Akinci”, was delivered by the Turkish “Baykar” company for the manufacture of drones, during an official ceremony with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the pillars of the Turkish state.
The ceremony also witnessed the graduation of about 1,000 pilots who received special training on the “Bayraktar” drone.
In July 2021, the “Aqnji” march succeeded in continuous flight for 13 hours and 24 minutes, carrying a payload of 1,360 kg, in addition to a flight capacity of 38,39 feet.

Turkey is one of 3 countries in the world, according to the Turkish News Agency, that manufactures this model of drones with local capabilities.
Where the plane was conducted take-off and flight tests and stayed in the first experiment for 16 minutes in the sky, and carried out the first fully automatic landing.

Turkey conducted the first test of the aircraft’s engine on September 1, 2019, as it was developed to perform military strategic tasks.
It works to provide the operations centers of the Turkish Armed Forces with direct information that it monitors during the performance of its missions in the air, as well as being able to hit enemy targets with pinpoint accuracy through the weapons and missiles it is equipped with.
The “Akinji” plane is distinguished by its ability to stay in the air for 24 hours, and can fly at an altitude of 40,000 feet, with a total payload capacity of 1,360 kg.
Akinji has a wingspan of 20 meters
With a wingspan of 20 meters, its unique structure with twisted wings provides high flight safety with a fully automatic flight control system, in addition to 3 automated flight systems.
The plane is able to collect information by recording the data it receives from sensors and cameras installed on it, and analyzing it through 6 computers equipped with highly advanced artificial intelligence.
It is also equipped with very advanced radars, satellite messaging systems, and electronic support systems.
Akinji has an autopilot system and an artificial intelligence system, without the need for any external sensor or GPS.
It is also equipped with meteorological and weather radar, capable of capturing accurate images from high altitudes even in poor weather conditions.
Akinji flies with two locally-made 240-horsepower engines, weighing 5,500 kg at take-off.
Its top speed is 250 knots per hour. It is capable of carrying a variety of weapons and projectiles, enabling it to strike strategic targets, in addition to the possibility of providing it with air-to-air missiles.
Akinji is classified as a tactical military aircraft (surveillance and attack), as it is equipped with locally-made munitions and can perform some tasks of the American F-16 aircraft, in addition to the advanced AESA radar, as well as ground support equipment.
In addition, the plane has 3 computers for artificial intelligence, sensors and information collection devices by recording data, as well as devices for positioning and exploring ground targets that the human eye cannot see.
Erdogan: No stone will move in the region without Turkey’s consent
In statements made yesterday, Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that a Turkish unmanned aircraft (Bayraktar Akinci Teha) would be a “shock to the world” when he launched the drone that will enter service in the Turkish army.
Erdogan said that his country “has proven its height in the manufacture of marches, and the world has followed our achievements, especially what we used in Syria and Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan has achieved victories thanks to Turkish weapons and returned its lands (meaning the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region with Armenia)”.
