This prompted the head of the Lebanese Pharmacists Syndicate, Ghassan Al-Amin, to issue a press release, in which he confirmed that bad conditions in Lebanon had arrived. To the extent of the drug crisis and baby food.

Al-Amin said, according to what “Watan” monitored: “In the homeland of intractable crises and accumulated tragedies, the Lebanese citizen has become. Wakes up daily to new ones. Or others and other worries that haunt the citizens daily. And the list goes on and on.

Al-Amin added, “But matters with irresponsible officials reach the point of undermining the only food for infants. That is a crime that cannot be tolerated. ”
He added, “And because the pharmacist is the only link between importers of infant formula on the one hand, and citizens on the other hand. It has become imperative to launch this loud cry in the face of those concerned after it has become the only food for infants. Threatening between the hammer of the Banque du Liban and the anvil of importers.
Call to the governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon
Al-Amin, Governor of the Banque du Liban, and all those responsible for the file supporting the import of infant formula appealed to the need to expedite. And giving the highest priority to the release of the accumulated import invoices, so that the importers can in turn. To ensure the availability of the necessary and sufficient quantities of milk to cover the needs of the citizens.
He continued: “The Lebanese Pharmacists Syndicate calls on all importers of infant formula to distribute milk quantities in a fair and balanced manner. Among all pharmacies operating on the entire Lebanese territory, without discrimination or preference between one pharmacy and another.
He indicated that this is in order to ensure that milk reaches all citizens without incurring the hassle of moving between one pharmacy and another. Hoping to find a bottle of milk to fill their kids’ hunger.
He continued: “The Lebanese Pharmacists Syndicate will not provide a way or an effort unless it will take it to urge the concerned parties to find appropriate and sustainable solutions. That would provide food and drug security for the citizens.
Wealth of the governor of the Banque du Liban
Earlier, the governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, confirmed that he “did not have any illegal or embezzled funds. At the expense of the central bank, either directly or indirectly.

Regarding the file in Switzerland, Salameh explained that “there is a preliminary investigation in Switzerland, which cannot disclose information to respect the confidentiality of the investigation.”
And he continued, “I repeat that I have never benefited from illegal funds on the account of the Banque du Liban, neither directly or indirectly.”
As the Swiss Prosecutor’s Office announced earlier, that it had requested legal aid from Lebanon as part of the investigation into money laundering and possible extortion linked to the central bank.
The Governor of the Banque du Liban pointed out that “Lebanon suffers from two major deficits, the first resulting from the budgets approved by the governments. Parliament voted on it, which did not take into account the need for reform, and which initiated very large wage increases in the public sector in November 2017.
The second concerns the current account with excessive imports, beyond the country’s needs.
He explained that “over a period of three years, between 2017 and 2019, Lebanon’s imports amounted to $ 65 billion, while they decreased. The volume of imports today is halved, and this is mainly due to the fact that Lebanon has not only imported for itself but also for Syria. ”
Salameh declared, “The Lebanese state possesses 16.350 billion dollars of foreign liquidity and the equivalent of 18 billion dollars of gold reserves.”
He explained that “this matter is important and helps prevent any collapse, and that Lebanon has room to maneuver, even if it is aware of the daily difficulties that some of our countrymen face.”
