The milling companies affiliated to the Holding Company for Food Industries, the latest marketer of wheat, have begun preparing for the next season to raise the quantities targeted for marketing this year, with the support of increasing storage capacities.

Ahmed El-Essawy, head of North Cairo Mills Company, said that the company added more storage space during the current season through a silo with a storage capacity of 6 thousand tons and a bunker, indicating that the company marketed 158 thousand tons during the last season.

Al-Essawi added to the “stock market” that the company aims to market a quantity ranging between 180 and 200 thousand tons during the current year, a growth of 26% over the last season, pointing out that the price set for the purchase of wheat for the next season is a good price for farmers and achieves good profit per acre.

Last week, the Council of Ministers agreed to set the price of supplying Ardab, local wheat for the 2021 season, to be 725 pounds for Ardab, with a cleanness of 23.5 carats, an increase of 25 pounds from last year, and to determine the price of supplying wheat ardeb with a degree of cleanliness of 23 carats at a rate of 715 pounds, and 705 pounds for ardeb with a cleanness degree of 22.5. carat.

For his part, Adel Mukhtar, President of Alexandria Mills Company, said in a brief statement that the company aims to market 36 thousand tons during the current season and that it is awaiting a meeting with the Supreme Committee for Wheat to determine the controls of supply during the season, expecting that the current season will be a good season in terms of yield and productivity, especially since The weather did not witness extreme changes during the time of its cultivation and maturity.

Ahmed Abdel Ghaffar, head of the commercial sector at Central and West Delta Mills, said that the company aims to market 250 thousand tons compared to 232 thousand tons that were marketed last season and equipped 19 sites to receive wheat, noting that the company has 4 silos with a storage capacity of 85 thousand tons and about 3 shuns. They are leased from rice mills in Berrechid and Al Gharbia and two silos belonging to the private sector, with a total storage capacity of 54 thousand tons.

Abdel Ghaffar added that increasing the marketing commission by about 25 pounds this year for marketers is a good thing, especially in light of the high costs and burdens on the mills.

The Minister of Supply and Internal Trade announced in a press statement two days ago that the local wheat supply season would start mid-April to mid-July, expecting to receive 4 million tons of wheat this year.
