During the cabinet meeting, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, presented the latest developments related to confronting the Corona virus.
Zayed indicated the total number of infected cases reached, as well as those who recovered and were discharged from hospitals to date, in addition to the weekly rate of injuries, and the distribution of these injuries nationwide, in addition to the occupancy rates of isolation hospital beds, whether in the interior, care, or Respirators.
The minister discussed the developments of the vaccines situation for the “Corona” virus, and what has been provided of these vaccines for the medical teams present in all isolation, chest and fever hospitals, noting that the vaccination of the rest of the medical staff inside the hospitals designated by the Ministry of Health to confront the virus is being completed, as well as hospitals affiliated to institutions Armed forces, police and university hospitals.
During the presentation, the Minister of Health noted the studies conducted about the possibility of infection with the “Corona” virus for the second time, explaining that the studies indicated that the first infection with the virus does not prevent it from contracting it again, and that the time period between the first and second infection cannot be predicted in Different age groups, as it is not possible to predict the severity of the symptoms associated with the second infection “Corona”.
The Minister touched on the report published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, on the management and consequences of the Corona pandemic in Egypt, during the period from February to August 2020, the “first pandemic”, which presented a summary of the epidemiological data during that first wave of the spread of the disease in Egypt. Where the report indicated that Egypt is the first African country to announce the first case of corona on February 14, 2020.
Also, according to the evaluation of the World Health Organization, Egypt came in the fourth level to measure the extent of preparedness and readiness of countries to face health risks and emergencies, including responding to changes in light of the Corona virus pandemic, with Austria, Cyprus, France and Russia in addition to 22 other countries.
The report indicated that the World Health Organization praised the recovery of the Egyptian health system and the development of the level of health care and health spending, as basic care homes were provided at a distance of less than 5 km for more than 95% of the population, as well as an increase in spending on health per person at a rate of 7.11%.
The report also dealt with the government’s efforts to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic, and the precautionary and preventive measures taken in this context, as well as the economic measures to deal with the repercussions of this pandemic, which included allocating 100 billion pounds to face the effects of the Corona pandemic.
