JAMA: Egypt is among the top 10 main markets for “fertilizers” at the global level
Nevin Jameh, Minister of Trade and Industry, said that the fertilizer industry is one of the most important strategic industrial sectors that contribute mainly to achieving food security and sustainable agricultural development, as it contributes to saving about 50% of world food production.
She added that the Egyptian government attaches great importance to the development of the fertilizer industry sector and the development of production processes because of its positive impact to achieve the goals of sustainable agricultural development at the local and regional levels.
This came in the context of the minister’s speech during her inauguration of the activities of the 27th session of the annual international economic forum of the Arab Fertilizer Union, which is held during the period from 6-8 April in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The minister said that the Arab region is currently one of the main sources for meeting the world’s needs of fertilizers thanks to its distinguished economic elements in this regard, which include raw materials of phosphate rock and potash, as well as the availability of energy sources necessary for production, and technological development in production processes that keep pace with the latest production methods. Global and environmental requirements.
Jameh added that many Egyptian companies producing fertilizers have adopted industrial strategies aimed at developing production processes and improving the quality of produced fertilizers, which made Egypt among the top 10 major fertilizer markets at the international level.
She pointed to the importance of enhancing joint regional and international cooperation between Egyptian companies and institutions working in the fertilizer industry sector, as it is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development goals at the Arab and African levels.
The Minister stressed the importance of supporting joint regional economic cooperation between Egypt and Arab and African countries by intensifying coordination efforts to support joint cooperation between companies and Arab business groups that produce fertilizers and work in the field of agricultural development, with the aim of achieving the maximum possible use of the resources and economic capabilities available in the Arab countries in order to achieve development goals And common regional integration.
She noted the importance of studying the promotion of joint industrial investment in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of revitalizing regional trade movement and benefiting from the economic advantages available within the framework of Arab and African regional integration agreements, pointing to the importance of coordination to sustain development processes for the production technology used in line with the needs of the agricultural sector and contribute to support Basic food needs at the regional and international levels.
