Minister of Planning: 7.1 billion pounds is the value of public investments directed to Assiut governorate in the 2020/2021 plan


Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development revealed that the number of development projects in Assiut governorate reaches 392 projects, and that the value of public investments directed to Assiut governorate in the 2020/2021 plan is LE 7.1 billion, an increase of 16% over the plan for the year 2019/2020, representing 2.8% Of distributed public investments.

This came in a statement by the Ministry of Planning today about the features of the “citizen’s investment plan” in the Assiut governorate for the fiscal year 2020/2021, as part of the continuation of the announcement of the citizen’s plan in all governorates of the republic for the second year in a row, with the aim of activating community participation and involving citizens in planning and follow-up. .

Al-Saeed explained that the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 2020/2021 attaches great importance to the development of the governorates of Upper Egypt with the aim of achieving real, tangible and rapid development, which is reflected in improving the quality of life and providing decent living opportunities. Balanced growth between the various regions of the republic and the governorates, pointing to the development plan’s interest in policies and potential programs aimed at achieving convergence in living standards and entry between regions by addressing development gaps and pushing development efforts in line with the components, characteristics and priorities of each region.

She pointed out that potential development efforts focus on three things, namely giving advanced priority to the development of Upper Egypt governorates within the framework of a coherent and integrated development program, in addition to focusing on the rural areas most in need to narrow the internal gap and reduce migration flows to urban areas, as well as giving a strong development push to regions. Promising to exploit existing opportunities and provide more job opportunities for youth.

With regard to the sectoral distribution of public investments targeted in Assiut governorate with the 2020/2021 plan, Al-Saeed indicated that investments worth 2.5 billion pounds will be directed to the housing sector, at a rate of 34.5%, and the oil sector is allocated to 741 million, or 10.4%, and the local development sector investments amount to 841. 2 million pounds, or 11.8%, and the transport sector is 1.3 billion pounds, 17.7%, and the higher education sector 644 million pounds, 9%, while other sectors are allocated investments worth 1.2 billion pounds, 16.7% .

The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development stated that the most important development targets in the housing sector and the development of informal settlements in Assiut Governorate in the 2021/2020 plan are to direct about 2 billion pounds for drinking water and sanitation services, in addition to 156.4 million pounds for electricity services.

The report pointed to the most important projects of the petroleum and mineral wealth sector in the governorate with the 2020/2021 plan represented in completing the replacement and renewal of the refining units of the Assiut Company, the completion of industrial security and environmental protection in the Assiut Petroleum Refining Company, the replacement and renewal of the national network of raw materials, products and butaz, as well as the completion of industrial security And environmental protection of the Petroleum Pipelines Company.

The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on the citizen’s investment plan in Assiut Governorate pointed to the features of the Dignified Life initiative in the governorate, as the volume of the initiative’s investments in the governorate amounts to 4.4 billion pounds, the number of beneficiary villages is 150 villages, and the number of beneficiaries is 2.1 million citizens.
