Minister of Supply: Wheat reserves are enough for 5 months

Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, said that the strategic reserve of wheat is safe and sufficient for a period of 5 months.

During the inauguration of the Model Services Complex for Services in Sharkia Governorate, he pointed out that the national project for silos is a national security and helped the state build reserves for strategic goods that amounted to 4 and a half months, while reducing waste by 15%.

With regard to the project to establish giant strategic warehouses, Al-Moselhi said that 4 strategic warehouses will be established to store goods, and subsidiary warehouses will be established to help distribute goods between cities and villages.

He added that the stores will help reduce the wastage from storing goods by 10%, equivalent to 300 million pounds out of the total billions of pounds worth of subsidized goods disbursed monthly on cards.

On the other hand, the Minister of Supply announced that the ministry aims to develop 100 bundled service centers during the coming period at the level of the governorates of the Republic, as part of its strategy for digital transformation and mechanization, to save the cost of construction and provide a highly efficient service to citizens with clear rules.

In response to a question about the impact of raising energy prices on commodities, Al-Moselhi indicated that the world is currently suffering from the negative repercussions of the Corona pandemic, which has suspended agricultural and industrial production in Europe and America for two years, but the current period and with the increase in vaccination rates against the Corona virus worldwide The return of life began gradually in terms of high rates of supply and demand, pointing out that the ministry succeeded during the Corona crisis in providing and making basic commodities available and maintaining prices unchanged, but it may have to only respond to global changes.

He stressed that Egypt will not advance without the citizen’s participation in the existing problems, and the need for him to respond to the procedures followed by the state to provide basic commodities, even if a limited increase in prices is required.
