Youssef: We are cooperating with more than 2000 associations to deliver support to those who need it
Misr El-Kheir Foundation launched the first Ramadan caravans under the name of “Caravans of Good”, which includes the distribution of more than 1,700 tons of foodstuffs to the most needy groups.
Ahmed Youssef, director of the direct aid program at Misr El-Kheir Foundation, said that the Foundation was keen this year to develop and diversify the products of the Fasting Breakfast campaign and to develop them and provide more than an alternative to Ramadan tents in order to prevent gatherings during the delivery of food aid to those who are entitled to the fasting breakfast campaign launched by the Misr El-Kheir Foundation for the ninth year. He added that cartons of foodstuffs will be delivered to those who are eligible in their homes, while taking all precautionary measures to prevent infection with the Coronavirus.
Youssef pointed out that the axis of the Ramadan tents has been canceled, also to prevent gatherings and overcrowding, and to replace them with more than one product, such as dry meals, breakfast cards and family bonds.
He said that Misr El-Kheir Foundation launched the first convoys of goodness to all governorates carrying more than 1,700 tons of foodstuffs under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Solidarity and in cooperation with the Long Live Egypt Fund, and we are preparing to launch the second convoys of good during the coming period, with the third convoys to follow during the holy month.
He explained that the food cartons were greatly developed after adding protein elements to them, whether they were chicken or meat.
He continued: “As it includes all the basic commodities that cannot be dispensed with in any home, as the carton contains more than 10 kilos of basic products in addition to a source of protein, and that is at a cost of 150 pounds, and the distribution is done through the foundation or the donor can receive the cartons and distribute them to the beneficiaries with his knowledge.” .
He pointed out that the family bond product, at a value of 1000 pounds, provides for more than 70 kilograms of food, sufficient for a family for the entire month of Ramadan.
He explained that one bond consists of 5 cartons of basic foodstuffs, 10 cans of stewed beef, 2 liters of juice and 1 kilo of apples, as well as a bag of potatoes weighing 10 kilograms that is transported chilled to reach the fresh recipient, as well as the meat is transported in dedicated cars to reach the recipient in the best possible way. He added that work has started on preparing for a fasting breakfast campaign since last January, and the base of beneficiaries has been reviewed and expanded to ensure eligibility criteria, in order to reach the largest number of deserving families.
Youssef emphasized that the corporation takes into account all procedures for the safety of transportation and storage so that the food aid reaches the beneficiaries in the best way and according to the highest quality standards.
He pointed out that for the first time this year, a fasting breakfast card with a value of EGP 150 is launched, and this product is considered one of the latest products of the fasting breakfast campaign as it achieves economic development for small merchants in all governorates of Egypt, where the recipient is entitled to obtain the card and exchange it from any grocery store in cooperation with the Ministry Supply and internal trade, with a value of EGP 150 or disbursed through Fawry outlets.
He stated that the beneficiary can spend whatever products he wants on the condition that they are food, because there is a trust placed on the foundation, as the donations are intended to break the fasting Prime Time Zone, and we must achieve the goal of the donor, and the breakfast is only through food products.
Youssef pointed out that the Misr Foundation aims to reach the most deserving of the most remote hagg or village in Egypt, as the campaign covers all governorates of the republic, especially the governorates of Upper Egypt, especially the most vulnerable families, in cooperation with about 2000 partner societies.
