President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi called on agricultural companies to increase their investments in the Egypt Future sustainable agriculture project.
President El-Sisi said, during his meeting with a number of engineers and workers supervising the seasonal harvest of various agricultural crops in the Future of Egypt project, that the state is ready to treat and solve any problems that may face the project to achieve the highest levels of success and to provide the best productivity with the least amount of water at the lowest possible cost.
The president explained that the project’s need for roads, axes and electricity is a matter of discussion, reiterating the call for agricultural companies to pump more investments into the project of Egypt’s future for sustainable agriculture.
During his meeting with a number of media professionals while inspecting the project site, President El-Sisi said that the state is adopting mechanisms to attract Egyptians abroad to go to the major national project “The Future of Egypt”, which will add nearly a million flat acres to the agricultural area.
He pointed out that different methods were used in agriculture in the project than those used in the lands of the Delta, stressing that by next November, we will have added 200,000 feddans, and another 500,000 feddans by November 2022.
The president added that this increase is related to utility projects, lifting stations, and a network of canals and banks that are being implemented by the state, stressing that the state aims to increase the agricultural area by about two million feddans.
The president added that there is a great opportunity for investors to benefit from the new agricultural land, noting that the water in the old land used to reach the lands with a natural slope through canals to be used for irrigation, while a feddan in the new land costs about 200 thousand pounds to deliver water and electricity and prepare it for agriculture.
He said that the cost of equipping one million feddans for agriculture is about 200 billion pounds, which means paying about 400 to 500 billion pounds to equip two million feddans during the next two or three years.
The President stressed the importance of maximizing the use of water resources, rationalizing them and recycling water use more than once without prejudice to the specifications, welcoming the investments of Egyptians in Egypt and abroad and foreigners to participate in the project, noting that the state does not announce any project until after its implementation.
