What the Suez Canal Authority has taken of measures and proactive steps in this regard is a continuous work that began in 2015 with the inauguration of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the new Suez Canal project, which aimed at increasing the numerical and carrying capacity of the canal, and allowed it to receive giant ships with large submersibles, especially large container ships, and had a great impact in achieving the highest levels of navigation safety in the canal by increasing the areas of duplication that allow dealing with Possible emergency conditions in the channel.

Lieutenant General Rabie added that the projects to develop the shipping course of the canal did not stop with the opening of the new Suez Canal project. Rather, development efforts continue according to an integrated strategy and parallel steps, as the authority is working on establishing a series of giant garages on the new canal, in addition to deepening and maintaining the existing garages on the original canal to increase The channel’s ability to cope with potential emergencies.

He continued, saying: “Efforts also extend to developing 16 navigation control stations along the navigation course, providing marine ambulance services and various rescue services, in addition to developing navigation control centers in the channel’s three cities, and modernizing the authority’s fleet of marine units of dredgers, locomotives and marine launches. “.

He stressed that the authority aims during the coming period to increase its capabilities in the field of maritime rescue, by annexing a number of giant locomotives with great tugging force that keeps pace with the development in the field of maritime transport and the trend of global arsenals towards building giant ships.
