The death of the artist Mona Badr, whose real name is “Mary Al-Najjar,” today, Thursday, at the age of 85, occupied the communication sites in Egypt and the Arab world.

Although Mona Badr’s artistic career is very short, she is famous for standing in front of Abdel Halim Hafez, in his famous movie “Boy of My Dreams”.

And the Nightingale sang his famous song “Lose your separation, my neighbor.”

The news of Mona Badr’s death was announced by musician Yahya Khalil, on his Facebook page.

In his post, which was monitored by (Watan), Yahya said: “This morning, my friend, a star from the beautiful time (Mary Al-Najjar), whom I met, passed away. In Egyptian cinema as (Mona Badr).

He continued: “And she starred in the movie (Boy of My Dreams) in front of Nightingale Abdel Halim Hafez, and she had settled in the United States in Chicago about 30 years ago.”

Khalil published a picture that he collected with the late artist and another of her with Abdel Halim Hafez in the movie “My Dream Boy”.

Badr moved away from art, blessing, so that her artistic balance would be 3 films only.

They are her famous film with Abdel Halim “Boy of My Dreams”, and the Lebanese film “We are all Fedayeen”, which was shown in 1969.

His story dealt with the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli occupation.

Her third film was in the eighties of the last century, with her appearance in Syrian cinema, through a role she played in the movie “Taxi Driver” by Syrian director Muhammad Shaheen.

After Mona Badr’s retirement, she traveled to America in an emigration that lasted about 30 years.

Who is Mona Badr?

Badr was born on November 15, 1936.

Her family is of Syrian origins, and in 1955, when she was 19 years old, she obtained her high school diploma from the Sacred Heart School.

In the following year, she won the title of Miss Egypt, which nominated her for the film “Boy of My Dreams”.
