On Tuesday, a comprehensive strike spread to Arab towns in the Palestinian interior and the occupied West Bank, to condemn the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, which was called the Dignity strike.

Videos and pictures monitored by “Watan” showed the commitment of the Palestinian Prime Time Zone to the occupied interior, the West Bank and Jerusalem, to the general strike, while demonstrations are expected to start in most cities of the West Bank and the occupied Palestinian interior, in protest against the “Israeli massacres” against the Palestinians, whether in the Gaza Strip or the occupied interior.

Comprehensive commitment to strike dignity

The strike included all aspects of commercial and educational life, including private and public institutions. Schools and universities closed their doors, as well as banks and public transportation in the West Bank and the cities of the occupied interior.

While the call for a comprehensive strike was widely accepted through the communication platforms, as activists and tweeters saw that uniting the ranks in front of the occupation is the first step to victory.

They indicated that the general strike that the Palestinian Prime Time Zone fought in 1936, which lasted for a full 6 months, according to what was reported by the “Arabs 48” website.

A consensus on the necessity of the success of the general strike

The “leadership of the national and Islamic forces” called on the Palestinians to participate extensively in national and mass activities from city centers, villages and camps to the areas of contact with the occupation at one o’clock in the afternoon, embodying national unity and under the flag of Palestine.

The Central Committee of the “Fatah” movement called on the various sectors of our Prime Time Zone to fully commit to the success of the general strike, in line with the statement of the Arab Follow-up Committee in the 48 territories, and an affirmation of the unity of our Prime Time Zone in all places of their presence.

The Arab Higher Follow-up Committee in the 48 lands called for a comprehensive strike in the Palestinian cities and towns, in response to the continuous Israeli aggression against our Palestinian Prime Time Zone.

While the Council of Ministers decided to participate in the strike by public sector employees, as an expression of anger at the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, especially the city of Jerusalem.

Comprehensive closures and empty streets

In Bethlehem, the Palestinian News Agency said that shops, institutions, schools and universities were closed, and the streets were empty of vehicles and pedestrians.

This comes at a time when the forces, activities and institutions of the Bethlehem Governorate called for the mobilization and presence at the points of contact and participation in the mass anger that will start from the Bab Al-Zuqq area at one o’clock in the afternoon.

The various popular and mass frameworks, committees, movements, and political and national actors also announced their commitment to the decision of a comprehensive strike and to participate in the protest activities, Tuesday, emanating from the Supreme Follow-up Committee.

While both Hamas and Fatah movements called for a comprehensive strike in the West Bank to express solidarity with the continuous Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip for the past 9 days.

Meanwhile, the Committee of Presidents and several local authorities called in separate statements on Arab citizens to abide by the strike and to participate in the struggle activities.

It also called for an end to the aggression on the Gaza Strip, the ongoing aggression on occupied Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and the withdrawal of all settlement gangs and repression forces from all Arab towns, including coastal cities.
