The Higher Committee for Beaches Licensing held a meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, headed by the Minister of Environment Dr. Yasmine Fouad, and in the presence of the Governor of Beheira Hisham Amna, the Governor of Damietta Dr. Manal Awad, Eng. Medhat Hanna, Chairman of the Beaches Authority, representatives of the ministries of defense, transport, local development, housing, tourism, antiquities and representatives of coastal governorates Concerned.

The Supreme Committee discussed 26 topics in the governorates of Beheira, Damietta, Alexandria, South Sinai, Suez and the Red Sea, where 18 applications were accepted due to their fulfillment of the necessary conditions, and 7 requests were postponed to fulfill the rest of the papers and approvals, and one application was rejected due to the fact that the required actions fall within the prohibition line, estimated at a distance of 200 meters.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aty, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, said that the Supreme Committee is concerned with approving all licenses along the Egyptian coasts, discussing studies on the works carried out on the Egyptian coasts with regard to defining the sanctuary and the balance of the beach, and ensuring that all facilities built within the prohibition line are light installations It is easy to disassemble and install.

He added that the committee is working to take the necessary decisions as soon as possible, after the licensee fulfills all the necessary conditions, in order to facilitate the investors and holders of licensing applications and to push the wheel of development, in light of what the state seeks to achieve the largest number of job opportunities for young Prime Time Zone. What contributes to supporting the national economy and achieving sustainable development goals.

For her part, the Minister of Environment, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, stressed the consideration of environmental dimensions in the national projects undertaken by the government, as well as the commitment of investment projects to studies of environmental impact assessment and environmental law … confirming the ministry’s keenness to provide technical support for projects to achieve compatibility between the economic and environmental aspects of them.

During the meeting, the Minister of Environment reviewed the guide for the renewal and maintenance of walkways, scaffolding and light beach facilities in the Shati campus, which was prepared by the ministry through a project to integrate biodiversity into tourism in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program and in coordination with the Public Authority for Coastal Protection and the Tourism Development Authority. Within the framework of the procedures that it takes to facilitate the investors to carry out maintenance and renovation work

During the meeting, a number of national and investment projects were approved, the most important of which was the approval of the seawater desalination plant in Dahab with a capacity of 30,000 cubic meters / day and a desalination plant in Nuweiba with a production capacity of 15,000 cubic meters / day, in addition to the approval of protection work for low-lying lands in the governorates of Dakahlia and Port Said. Damietta and Beheira, funded by the Green Climate Fund and the Egyptian General Authority for Coastal Protection.

It is worth noting that the topics submitted for presentation to the Supreme Committee are studied first by a specialized technical committee at the Coastal Protection Authority that examines all licensing applications and their fulfillment of the required studies, so that these results will be presented to the technical secretariat formed by representatives of ministries and concerned authorities for study before presentation to the Supreme Committee for final decisions. .
